| Wine of the Month |
| Now that summer has finally arrived we felt that our July Wine of the Month should be a fruity, crisp Sauvignon Blanc, ideal for drinking on its own or with food, combined with excellent value for money. This led us to Urban Uco, a superb Sauvignon from the Mendoza region of Argentina. At £6.95 it will enhance our summer without breaking the bank! | |

Mount’s Bay Wine company was founded in 1976 when two enterprising young hoteliers began importing wine for the local hotel and catering market in West Cornwall. 10 years later it moved to the current premises in Bread Street, Penzance, from which it has operated now for over 20 years.
Bread Street houses the retail shop, the extensive wine cellar and the offices of the company.
In 2005 the business was acquired by the present owners, Penny Breese and Alan Beevor. They had long held the belief that, whilst the retail multiples had done a good job in introducing wine to a wider market than was the case in the past, their offerings now can be rather bland and that buying wine from a shop without knowledgeable staff can be akin to buying a lottery ticket!
The aim of Penny and Alan is to share their passion for wine with as wide an audience as possible, through discussing wine with them and helping them choose the most appropriate wine from the extensive collection.
Wine is not the whole story, however. Mount’s Bay Wine Company has a good range of spirits and liqueurs, Cornish bottled beers, miniatures, meads, ciders, fortified wines…..the list goes on.
However, the best way to see the range is to come into the shop, talk to the knowledgeable staff, and make your selection in a pleasant and relaxed atmosphere.
