Now that summer has finally arrived we felt that our July Wine of the Month should be a fruity, crisp Sauvignon Blanc, ideal for drinking on its own or with food, combined with excellent value for money. This led us to Urban Uco, a superb Sauvignon from the Mendoza region of Argentina. At £6.95 it will enhance our summer without breaking the bank!
A lovely mix of fruit comes through on the nose, first crisp gooseberry and then fuller tropical fruit. The palate has a complexity with the mid crispness lifting and lengthening the mix of grapefruit and fresh lime; lovely flowing elegance. At the turn of the millenium the Spanish family Ortega Gil-Fournier founded a small 'boutique' winery at the foot of the Andes, in La Consulta, in the Argentinean province of Mendoza. Bodega y Vinedos O Fournier is well on track to achieve its aim of becoming one of the most outstanding high quality wineries in Argentina.
