Wine of the Month E-mail

We've got a couple of great picnic white wines which we can't choose between, so we're having both for our current Wines of the Month!  Why picnic wines?  Both are really fresh, fruity wines, much lower alcohol than most and retail at a tasty £6.00 each. Our Moscato d'Asti is just 5.5% and is a fragrantly fruity sparkling wine from Italy, while the Trentham from Australia is a fresh, 8.5%, Semillon Sauvignon Blanc blend.  Enjoy!

The Moscato d'Asti comes from Batasiolo, a wine maker which distinguishes itself for its sparkling wines all made from grapes grown in its own vineyards, on land which lends itself perfectly to growing grapes used in the making of sparkling wines.  This is a classic which has wide appeal and is fun to try.  It is redolent to me of the cream soda of my youth - but much more grown up fun and with 5.5% alcohol!

The Trentham Estate in New South Wales features rich red loam over limestone soils, nurtured by the Murray River.  It produced its first vintage in 1984.  The "Two Thirds" Semillon/Sauvignon Blanc has been formulated to have only 8.5% alcohol - ideal for those who want a fresh, fruity, light wine but with a little less "punch"!
