Well the month has hardly got off to a great start, has it? The weather is distinctly un-summery and the economic news appears to be all doom and gloom. Unsurprisingly we have a solution which you have probably guessed already – enjoy some good bottles of wine - from Mounts Bay Wine Co! Don’t forget that we can deliver - and at a time that suits you.

Our Rosé wines continue to be very popular, particularly at this time of year and we now have not one but two rosés from Penzance’s very own award winning vineyard at Polgoon. The 2007 vintage of the still wine is now in store and, to us, tastes just as good as the 2006 which won the award for the UK’s best Rosé with Polgoon’s very first vintage! Also newly released is the 2006 Polgoon Fizz, their vintage pink sparkling wine that is similar to a rosé champagne. Both are limited output so don’t leave it too long before trying them!

Being optimistic that we will get at least some sunshine during the summer, we've got a couple of great picnic white wines which we can't choose between, so we're having both for our August Wines of the Month! Why picnic wines? Both are really fresh, fruity wines, much lower alcohol than most and retail at a tasty £6.00 each. Our Moscato d'Asti is just 5.5% and is a fragrantly fruity sparkling wine from Italy, while the Trentham “Two-Thirds” from Australia is a fresh, 8.5%, Semillon Sauvignon Blanc blend. Enjoy!

Our next shop based wine tasting will be held on a Thursday evening - an opportunity for those whose Friday evenings are booked up with other activities! We shall taste 9 different wines from around the world and would urge you to reserve your tickets now as we limit the numbers to just 30 people
