WINE TASTING – THURSDAY 26TH JUNE AT 7pm

Our next wine tasting evening is now less than three weeks away! This time we are holding it on a Thursday evening - an opportunity for those whose Friday evenings are booked up with other activities! We shall taste an eclectic mix of 9 wines from around the world and would urge you to reserve your tickets now as we limit the numbers to just 30 people!

Tickets are now available from the shop at £10 each.

WINE OF THE MONTH

Wines from Bordeaux have lasting appeal for good reason. The 2000 vintage in particular is renowned as one of the best of recent years. Our Wine of the Month for June is an Haut-Medoc Cru Bourgeois of that vintage, from Chateau Fontesteau. Considering that last year it was awarded 5 stars in Decanter Magazine it provides excellent value at £14.95.

Built in 1277, the Chateau Fontesteau is situated in the very heart of Haut-Medoc. Today it is surrounded by 30 hectares of vineyards and the owners have invested heavily in both the restoration of the chateau and the winemaking facilities. The dominant grape in the blend is Cabernet Sauvignon which is expertly blended with both Merlot and Cabernet Franc.

This will be one of the wines that we shall be sampling at our Wine Tasting Evening on Thursday 26th June.

ROSÉS

As summer has now arrived, at least according to the calendar, we are again featuring our range of rosé wines. We have over a dozen different ones, different styles and from different parts of the world, ranging from the ultra dry from Provence to rich and fruity wines from Chile. We are also currently awaiting the new vintage from Polgoon, Penzance’s very own award winning vineyard.
