***** WINE TASTING – FRIDAY 15TH FEBRUARY *****

Our next tasting evening is now less than two weeks away so we would urge you to reserve your tickets as soon as possible as we limit the numbers to just 30 people!

The evening will feature 9 wines in total from Italy, Spain and Portugal presented by Helena Grant. The wines presented include a sparkling wine from Italy and will finish with a (now traditional) sweet dessert wine. Whilst most we will taste retail for less than £10 each we are also featuring a superb Amerone which sells for c£30!

As usual for these events, tickets are £10 each and this will be deducted from the cost of any of the tasted wines purchased on the night with a minimum order value of £50.
Tickets are now available from the shop.

WINE OF THE MONTH

In February we thought we could all do with a wine to warm us up a little and help to banish those winter blues! That's why we've chosen as our wine of the month a good quality Sicilian Nero d'Avola from Villa Tonino which at £9.50 represents good value for money.

The Baglio Curatolo Nero d'Avola is made from grapes from a single vineyard near Agrigento. Intense and ripe, yet fresh and balanced, this wine has wonderful depth and ripeness.

NEW GERMAN WINES IN STOCK

We are now very pleased to offer some excellent wines from Germany from top maker Dr Loosen, from Bernkastel, Mosel.

• Dr L Riesling at £7.95/bottle. This introductory, non-estate dry wine embodies the elegant and racy style of classic Mosel Riesling.

• Erdener Treppchen at £12.95/bottle. This is a single vineyard dry Riesling, the iron-infused, red slate soil producing wines that are muscular and complex, with an intense mineral finish.

• Ürziger Würzgarten Auslese at £12.95 for a 37.5cl bottle. This sweet Riesling, from a single vineyard, has exotic, spicy aromas and a mesmerizing earthiness. No other vineyard on the Mosel produces wines so bursting with tropical fruit flavours.
