NEWSLETTER – NOVEMBER 2007

TASTINGS

Our next Wine Tasting evening will be held on the evening of Friday 23rd November 2007 when we will try a selection of the range of wines from the Louis Latour Agencies. The family-run company of Maison Louis Latour is one of the most highly respected négociant-éléveurs in Burgundy. Renowned throughout the world for the quality of its red and white wines, the company has built a reputation for tradition and innovation.

As well as the French houses of Michel Redde, Vidal Fleury and its own Burgundy wines, Louis Latour also represents wineries in South Africa, Australia and New Zealand. For this event tickets will be £10 and this will be deducted from the cost of any of the tasted wines purchased on the night with a minimum order value of £50. Given the success of our tasting evenings, which have all been sell-outs to date, demand for tickets is expected to be high, so please book early!
Tickets are now available from the shop.

We also have a couple of further dates for your diary for 2008 to liven up our winter! We have tasting evenings booked for the Friday evenings of 15th February and 4th April 2008. Further details will be announced in due course.

WINE OF THE MONTH

Our Wine of the Month for November is an excellent and good value red wine from Bordeaux. It is a Domaine La Grave de Bertin, 1999 and is a snip at £7.95. It is made from 70% Merlot and 30% Cabernet Sauvignon.
It comes from ETS J P Moueix, a business founded in 1937. The firm's reputation, which includes the wine making operations of Chateau Petrus acquired in 1964, is founded upon an absolute respect for quality and an emphasis on impeccable vineyard husbandry and innovation.

BEER

Estrella Galicia

We now stock an outstanding Spanish Premium Lager, Estrella Galicia (Star of Galicia). It is a mild and light bodied beer with a very refreshing aftertaste. Made following the classic Pilsen tradition, it has an intriguing bitterness and plenty of flavour. It comes in 330ml bottles which cost £1.25 each.
The brewery was founded in 1906 by Jose Rivera in La Coruna and the company is still family owned. The 4th generation keeps the original philosophy of producing and exceptional and outstanding beer.

BIN END SALE – 20% off selected items

To make way for these new wines we are once again having a Bin End sale to clear our discontinued lines. These items are offered at 20% off ticket prices, but obviously only while stocks last, so don’t delay!
