NEWSLETTER – OCTOBER 2007

WINE OF THE MONTH

Well, summer’s officially over and so our wine of the month reflects the fact. We have selected a robust red wine, Cairanne, from the southern Rhone region of France, from the renowned 2003 vintage. It is La Cote Sauvage from Boutinot.

Cairanne is one of the best Cotes du Rhone Villages, a solid robust red wine. The 2003 vintage in the southern Rhone was one of the best of recent years and this example from Boutinot is exceptional. This wine is so good that it will give many Chateauneuf-du-Pape wines a good run for much less money! We featured this wine at our shop tasting evening back in May and it was the most popular of the nine wines which we tasted at that event.

This superb wine is priced at £10.65

 TASTINGS

Our next tasting is coming up fast and will be held on the evening of Friday 12th October 2007 at 7pm at our shop in Bread Street. We will taste a range of wines from Spain in the company of Spanish wine specialist Oliver Tullett. For this event tickets will be £10 and this will be deducted from the cost of any of the tasted wines ordered on the night with a minimum order value of £50.

There are still a few tickets available from the shop but they are selling fast so please don’t delay.
Following on in November we have a tasting scheduled for Friday 23rd November when we will taste a selection of the range of wines from the Louis Latour Agencies. The family-run company of Maison Louis Latour is one of the most highly respected négociant-éléveurs in Burgundy. Renowned throughout the world for the quality of its red and white wines, the company has built a reputation for tradition and innovation. As well as the French houses of Michel Redde, Vidal Fleury and its own Burgundy wines, Louis Latour also represents wineries in South Africa, Australia and New Zealand.

NEW WINES

We have added a number of new wines to our portfolio this month, most notably an excellent red and white pair from Binisalem, Mallorca at £9.95 each and a superb Portuguese wine, Vista TR, wonderful value at £5.95. We have also upgraded our Barbera, Orvieto and Verdicchio offerings as well as introducing a really good wine from Piedmont, Bricco Drago, similar to a good Barolo but at £15.95 rather than £25+!

BIN END SALE – 20% off selected items

To make way for these new wines we are once again having a Bin End sale to clear our discontinued lines. These items are offered at 20% off ticket prices, but obviously only while stocks last, so don’t delay!
