For February what could be more apt than Saint-Amour? Domaine de la Porte du Paradis, Le Cru des Amoureux is the perfectly named wine for Valentine's Day and at £9.95 it need not break your heart!
Saint-Amour is the northernmost cru of Beaujolais (made from the Gamay grape) and is light, fruity and irresistible (especially on February 14th for those of a romantic disposition). Domaine de la Porte du Paradis, Le Cru des Amoureux is an excellent cru Beaujolais. Heavenly scents of peonies and irises, ripe texture with hidden depths of character, smooth rich and satisfying. A polished gem. |
